The City of Maize is growing rapidly, and its recreational
and open-space needs are changing as our population expands. To
help the community develop a park system that meets contemporary
expectations and has the potential to fulfill increasing
recreational demand in the future, a
Park System Master Plan
has been developed.
Maize's city park is centrally located in the community near
the intersection of Academy Ave. and Khedive (401 S. Khedive).
The park is 5.15 acres in size and includes a recently refurbished playground,
new public restrooms, skateboard
park, open picnic shelters, splash pad, and a community building
which can be reserved for family reunions, birthday parties,
meetings and other gatherings.
Throughout the year, special community events are held at the
park. Some recent events include National Night Out,
Ballet in the Park and an outdoor concert by acclaimed jazz,
rock and blues guitarist

Maize Community Building Reservation Application and Usage
The Maize Splash Pad has quickly become a huge
attraction for families and kids needing to cool
off in the summer months. The pad

closes on Labor Day weekend and is open from 9
AM to 8 PM. There is no cost to use the

The City's path system currently consists of .39 miles of
10'-wide bicycle path, and about .60 miles of on-street bike
lanes that are defined with signs and pavement markings.
Through the integration of its population into every aspect of quality education, civic improvements, community appearance, commerce and recreation, Maize shall preserve its small town atmosphere and become the best small city in Kansas.
